Famous actor/author William Shatner claimed he saw a UFO. 

The book Captain Quirk, a fairly hostile unauthorised biography of William Shatner (who played Captain Kirk in the television series Star Trek), written by someone who got to know him personally while they worked on a documentary together, reported that Shatner had a bizarre UFO experience while riding his motorcycle with friends in the Mojave desert.

Supposedly Shatner's bike stopped working properly. He crashed and became disoriented and his friends mysteriously lost track of him.

Shatner claimed to see some kind of shadowy apparition beckoning him from the edge of the horizon.

He followed this apparition for hours, eventually arriving at a petrol station where Shatner claimed he saw a silvery, metallic disc hovering overhead.

Shortly after the incident, Shatner released a musical album, The Transformed Man, containing cover versions of well-known "spacey" songs such as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Some have alleged that the album was inspired by the alien encounter or even that the album itself constituted a message from Shatner to the aliens, indicating that he had "got it."

Shatner during an interview would later deny the incident saying he was trying to get rid of the rumors.  Some still believe that he is lying so people dont' think hes crazy due to body language during the interview.  It is reported he mentions the incident in his autobiography.
