Incubus/Succubus

Incubus is a male spirit or demon that targets women for sexual intercourse and can last for hours since the victim is often paralyzed during the encounter (Old Hag Syndrome).  Molestation from incubi and succubi have been reported at least since the middle ages.  Many have had experiences with these and there is mixed theories on what causes this phenomena.  Sleep paralysis could be a factor, but in the Christian religion, demons are the culprit. There are also numerous stories involving the attempted exorcism of incubi or succubi who have taken refuge in the bodies of men or women.

Succubus is a female version of an Incubus, targets men instead for sexual intercourse, especially monks. It is said they draw energy from the men to sustain themselves, often until the point of exhaustion or death of the victim. Succubi would collect semen from the men they slept with, which incubi would then use to impregnate women, children born from these occurrences are said to be born with deformities and be more susceptible to supernatural occurrences.
