World's Search for Extraterrestrial Life

The woman leading the world's search for extra-terrestrial life has been named one of three winners for 2009 from TED.com in which their "One Wish to Change the World" is granted and they also receive $100,000. Astronomer Jill Tarter is Director of the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute’s Center for SETI Research, and also holder of the Bernard M. Oliver Chair for SETI. Her wish will be unveiled at the TED2009 conference on February 5, 2009. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and specializes in providing inspired talks by the world's greatest thinkers and doers. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing people together from those three worlds but has since broadened its horizons to include other fields of interest.  http://www.tedprize.org/2009-winners/
